APPLE RAISIN SCONES
List of Ingredients
- 2 CUPS FLOUR
- 1/2 CUP SUGAR
- 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
- 1/2 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
- 1/2 CUP BUTTER FLAVORED SHORTENING
- 1 EGG
- 1 CUP SOUR CREAM
- 1/2 CUP GOLDEN RAISINS
- 1 CUP CHOPPED APPLES
- CINNAMON/SUGAR MIXTURE
Instructions
- PREHEAT OVEN TO 400°.
- IN A LARGE BOWL, MIX FLOUR, SUGAR, SALT, BAKING SODA AND SHORTENING WITH A PASTRY BLENDER OR WITH YOUR FINGERS UNTIL CRUMBLY. ADD SOUR CREAM AND EGG AND MIX WELL. REMOVE TO A LIGHTLY FLOURED SURFACE AND KNEAD UNTIL MIXED. FLATTEN DOUGH AND SPRINKLE WITH RAISINS AND APPLES THAT WERE SPRINKLED WITH SOME CINNAMON/SUGAR MIXTURE. MIX WELL. FLATTEN DOUGH TO 3/4" THICK AND CUT INTO CIRCLES OR WEDGES AND PLACE ON A GREASED PAN AND SPRINKLE WITH SOME CINNAMON/SUGAR MIXTURE. BAKE FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN.
