CREAM SCONES
I LOVE SCONES AND CAN'T SEEM TO HAVE ENOUGH OF RECIPES WHEN IT COMES TO THESE DELICIOUS CAKES. THIS RECIPE COMES FROM THE OAK MEADOW BED AND BREAKFAST IN TEXAS.
List of Ingredients
- 2 CUPS FLOUR
- 1 TABLESPOON BAKING POWDER
- 1/4 TEASPOON SALT
- 1/4 CUP SUGAR
- 1/3 CUP BUTTER, CUT UP
- 1 CUP OF HEAVY OR WHIPPING CREAM
Instructions
- IN A LARGE BOWL COMBINE FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, SALT AND SUGAR; CUT IN BUTTER WITH A PASTRY BLENDER UNTIL CRUMBLY. ADD WHIPPING CREAM, STIRRING UNTIL MOISTENED.
- TURN ONTO LIGHTLY FLOURED SURFACE; KNEAD 5 OR 6 TIMES. ROLL TO 1/2" THICKNESS; CUT INTO WEDGES WITH A KNIFE OR PIZZA CUTTER AND PLACE 1" APART ON A LIGHTLY GREASED BAKIG SHEET. ( OR CUT WITH A ROUND BISCUIT CUTTER)
- BAKE IN A PREHEATED 400° OVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN. MAKES 1 DOZEN
- TO GET A JUMP ON AN EARLY MORNING BREAKFAST, BAKE THE NIGHT BEFORE AND REFRIGERATE. NEXT MORNING, WRAP IN FOIL, AND WARM IN OVEN.
Final Comments
BEFORE BAKING, YOU CAN BRUSH WITH SOME MELTED BUTTER OR MILK AND SPRINKLE WITH SUGAR.
ENJOY!
