    List of Ingredients


    • 2 CUPS FLOUR
    • 2 TABLESPOONS SUGAR
    • 2 TEASPOONS BAKING POWDER
    • 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
    • 1/2 TEASPOON BAKING SODA
    • 1/3 CUP BUTTER FLAVORED VEGETABLE SHORTENING
    • 3/4 CUP MILK, 1/2 AND 1/2 OR HEAVY CREAM
    • 1/2 CUP DRIED FRUITS ( YOUR CHOICE) CHOPPED


    Instructions


    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 450°.
    2. IN A BOWL, MIX TOGETHER THE FLOUR, SUGAR, BAKING POWDER, SALT, BAKING SODA. CUT IN WITH A PASTRY BLENDER OR YOUR FINGERS THE SHORTENING UNTIL MIXTURE RESEMBLES CORNMEAL. ADD THE FRUITS AND TOSS TO COMBINE. ADD MILK AND MIX BY HAND JUST UNTIL THE MIXTURE HOLDS TOGETHER. PLACE ON A FLOURED BOARD AND FORM INTO A ROUGH RECTANGLE ABOUT AN INCH THICK. CUT WITH A BISCUIT CUTTER AND BAKE ON AN UNGREASED BAKING SHEET FOR APPROXIMATELY 12 TO 15 MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN.
