    Sour Cream Candy

    3 cups brown sugar
    1 cup sour cream
    1 stick (1/2 cup) butter (no substitutes)
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 cup chopped walnuts

    Butter a 9 x 13-inch glass dish.

    Cook sugar and sour cream in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat to soft-ball stage (240 degrees F on a candy thermometer). Remove from heat; add butter. Beat until mixture becomes grainy looking. Stir in vanilla extract and nuts. Pour into prepared dish. Allow to set, then cut into squares.
