    From “The Good Goodies: Recipes for Natural Snacks ‘n’ Sweets by Stan and Floss Dworkin (1975)


    List of Ingredients




    1 cup seedless dried currents
    1/2 cup dessicated coconut shreds
    2 to 3 dozen dates

    Recipe



    Grind the currants and add the coconut and mix well until almost uniform.

    Pit the dates and cut them halfway through down the length.

    Pick up a bit of the coconut currant mixture (a rough ball about ½ inch across) and stuff it into the pitted date. Press the date partly closed again around the mixture.

    Yield: 24 to 36

    Note: You can stuff the dates thick or thin as you prefer, hence the variable yield.
