    Sunflower-Date Balls

    Source of Recipe

    Karen Tressler

    Recipe Introduction

From “The Good Goodies: Recipes for Natural Snacks ‘n’ Sweets by Stan and Floss Dworkin (1975)

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup hulled sunflower seeds
    1 cup dates
    1/4 cup honey

    Recipe

Make certain the dates are moist or these balls are likely to just fall apart. Add the honey a tablespoon at a time and mix well after each tablespoon. You may be able to get the balls to hold together with less honey than called for in this recipe.

In blender or grinder, grind seeds to a fine flour and pour into a mixing bowl.

Pit the dates and scissor them small. Mix the dates and ground seeds together well.

Add the honey and mix until well blended.

When mixed, pick out a bit and roll into a 1 inch ball between your palms. Repeat until all of the mixture is used.

Yield: About 30 1 inch balls
