    Sunflower-Raisin Balls

    Source of Recipe

    Karen Tressler

    Recipe Introduction

From “The Good Goodies: Recipes for Natural Snacks ‘n’ Sweets by Stand and Floss Dworkin (1975)

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup sunflower seeds
    2 1/2 rounded Tablespoons honey
    1/2 cup seedless manukka raisins

    Recipe

This variation requires more work. If we were using more honey (as we will later on), we could use the raisins whole. As it is, with this little honey, and this much raisin, we need the additional stickiness that the cut raisins give us.

Grind the seeds and add the honey as in the Sunflower Balls above.

Measure out the raisins and scissor them in halves, right into the same bowl.

Stir very well until as uniform as you can manage, then spoon out teaspoonfuls of the mixture and shape between the palms of your hands. You may have to press a bit more firmly to get the balls to hold together, because of the raisins.

    Yield: About 24 balls.
