    Creamy Walnut Spread

    Source of Recipe

BL Olson modified from a Heinz Bottle

    Recipe Introduction

    Makes 1 1/4 cups.

    List of Ingredients

1 cup soy cream cheese, softened
    1/4 cup Heinz Tomato Ketchup
1 tsp each lemon juice and finely grated lemon zest
    1/2 tsp hot pepper sauce
1/2 cup coarsely chopped, toasted walnuts
    1 green onion, finely chopped

    Recipe

Beat the cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth. Gradually blend in ketchup, lemon juice, lemon zest and hot pepper sauce.

Fold in walnuts and green onion using a spatula; transfer to a serving bowl. (Spread can be refrigerated, covered, for up to 2 days.)

    Twists:

Twist 1 For an easy appetizer, serve the spread with crackers and fruit or fresh vegetables.

Twist 2 For toasted walnuts, spread the nuts in an even layer on a baking sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes in a preheated 350 F (180 C) oven.

Twist 3 For a chunkier spread, substitute Heinz Chili Sauce, Chunky with Sweet Peppers for the Ketchup.

Twist 4 For a spicier dip, substitute Heinz Tomato Ketchup Kickers, Hot & Spicy for the ketchup and hot sauce.
