    8 cups chopped or coarsely ground peeled pears (about 5-1/2 pounds)
    4 cups sugar
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

    Recipe



    Combine all ingredients in a large kettle.

    Simmer, uncovered, for 1-1/2 to 2 hours or until thick, stirring occasionally.

    Stir more frequently as the mixture thickens.

    Remove from the heat; skim off foam.

    Pour hot into hot jars, leaving 1/4-in. headspace.

    Adjust caps.

    Process for 10 minutes in a boiling-water bath.

    Yield: 6 half-pints.
