    Creamy Mushroom Pasta Toss

    Source of Recipe

    Heinz It Up

    Recipe Introduction

Serves 4 to 6. Always check your Worchestershire Sauce as some are neither GF nor vegetarian. If you can't find one that fits your needs try Pickapeppa Sauce instead.

    List of Ingredients

    3 tbsp vegetable oil
    1 onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp finely chopped fresh thyme
1/2 tsp each salt and pepper
    4 cups quartered button mushrooms
    1/4 cup red wine
    3/4 cups Heinz Tomato Ketchup
    3 tbsp Heinz Worcestershire Sauce
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1/4 cup chopped green onions
    3/4 cup soy sour cream
6 cups cooked rice or other GF noodles

    Recipe

Heat 1 tbsp of the oil in a skillet set over medium heat. Cook the onion, thyme, salt and pepper for 5 minutes. Increase the temperature to medium-high. Add the remaining oil and the mushrooms. Saute, stirring often, for 8
to 10 minutes or until well browned. Stir in the red wine and cook for 1 minute, scraping up any cooked on bits.
Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire, garlic and green onions. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes or until thickened. Stir in the sour cream and toss with warm noodles.

    Twists:
Twist 1 For a meatless shepherd's pie, try this mushroom mixture as the base. See Classic Shepherd's Pie recipe for the topping.

Twist 2 For an alcohol-free version, substitute vegetable broth for the red wine.

Twist 3 For a tangier version, use plain soy yogurt instead of soy sour cream.

Twist 4 For a chunkier version, use Heinz Chili Sauce instead of regular ketchup.

Twist 5 For a spicier taste, use Heinz Tomato Ketchup Kickers, Hot & Spicy instead of regular ketchup.
