    PECAN SURPRISE BARS

    List of Ingredients




    CRUST:

    1 pkg. Yellow cake mix
    1/2 c. margaring, softened
    1 egg

    FILLING:

    2/3 c. reserved cake mix
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 1/2 c. dark corn syrup
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs

    ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS:

    1 c. chopped nuts

    Grease bottom and sides of a 9 x 13 inch pan.

    Reserve 2/3 cup of the dry cake mix for the filling.

    In a large bowl, combine remaining dry cake mix, margarine, and egg; mix until crumbly.

    Press in prepared pan.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes, until golden brown.

    MEANWHILE, prepare filling a a large bowl. Combine all filling ingredients; beat at medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes. Pour filling over partially baked crust; sprinkle with pecans.

    Return to over and bake 30 to 35 minutes (at 350 degrees), until filling is set.

    Cool; cut into 36 bars.
