    Using a little bit here, little bit there, I came up with this delightful, powerful recipe for curried chick peas. If you are the kind of person that doesn't handle spices well, you should cut all of the spices in half and omit the cloves.

    List of Ingredients




    3 Tblsp vegetable oil
    1-2 Tblsp mustard seeds
    4-6 cardamom pods, broken
    1 large onion, diced (I have used red onion too)
    1 can (15 oz.) chick peas, drained and rinsed
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp turmeric
    1 tsp cumin powder
    1 tsp ginger powder
    1 tsp coriander powder
    3 cloves, ground to powder
    2-4 bay leaves

    Recipe



    1. Heat oil until very hot, add mustard seeds and cardamom.

    2. When mustard seeds are popping, add onions and cook until onions become translucent.

    3. Add remaining ingredients and cook through on medium-low heat, for about 10 mins. Liquids will evaporate, but if it happens too early, add a few tablespoons of water.

    Serve with rice.
