    Oatmeal Carmelitas

    List of Ingredients


    • 32 light candy caramels
    • 5 T. evaporated milk
    • 1 C. flour
    • 1 C. oatmeal
    • 3/4 C. brown sugar
    • 1/2 t. soda
    • 1/4 t. salt
    • 3/4 C. butter, melted
    • 1 C. chocolate chips
    • 1/2 C. walnuts, chopped


    Instructions


    1. Melt caramels in evaporated milk in double boiler or microwave. (Kraft caramels work best.)

    2. Combine flour, oatmeal, sugar, soda, salt and butter.

    3. Press 1/2 of mixture in 11x7 pan.

    4. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

    5. Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over baked mixture.

    6. Over that, spread caramel mixture and sprinkle with other 1/2 of oatmeal mixture.

    7. Bake 15 to 20 minutes.

    8. Topping should be evenly brown.
