Oatmeal Carmelitas

List of Ingredients
- 32 light candy caramels
- 5 T. evaporated milk
- 1 C. flour
- 1 C. oatmeal
- 3/4 C. brown sugar
- 1/2 t. soda
- 1/4 t. salt
- 3/4 C. butter, melted
- 1 C. chocolate chips
- 1/2 C. walnuts, chopped
Instructions
- Melt caramels in evaporated milk in double boiler or microwave. (Kraft caramels work best.)
- Combine flour, oatmeal, sugar, soda, salt and butter.
- Press 1/2 of mixture in 11x7 pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over baked mixture.
- Over that, spread caramel mixture and sprinkle with other 1/2 of oatmeal mixture.
- Bake 15 to 20 minutes.
- Topping should be evenly brown.
