Easy Fruit Cobbler

1 stick (1/2 c.) butter
1 c. all purpose flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. milk
2 c. sweetened fresh fruit or berries or canned peaches, drained or water packed cherries.
Recipe
Melt butter in a square pan no larger than 9 inches. Mix flour, sugar, a pinch of salt, baking powder and milk. Stir. Spoon over melted butter. Top with fruit. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. The dough rises and covers fruit with a crust as the cobbler bakes.
