    Hearty Potato Ham Chowder

    List of Ingredients


    • 4 potatoes
    • 2 Tbs. butter
    • 1/4 cup onions, chopped
    • 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
    • 2 cups water
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 1/8 tsp. pepper
    • 1/4 tsp. paprika
    • 3 Tbs. flour
    • 1/3 cup cold water
    • 2 cups milk
    • 12 oz. can corn
    • 2 cups diced ham


    Instructions


    1. Peel and dice potatoes.
    2. Melt butter in large saucepan.
    3. Add onion and green pepper, and cook until tender (but not brown).
    4. Add potatoes, 2 cups water, and seasonings.
    5. Cover and simmer until potatoes are tender.
    6. Make paste of flour and 1/3 cup cold water.
    7. Blend into potato mixture.
    8. Add milk and cook, stirring until slightly thickened.
    9. Stir in corn and ham. Heat through.
    10. You can sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top after serving if desired.


    Final Comments


    Makes 6 servings. This is good with corn bread.
