    List of Ingredients


    • 3 C. flour
    • 3/4 C. sugar
    • 2 T. Baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 1 C. prepared mashed potatoes
    • 3 T. margarine
    • 2 eggs
    • 1/2 C. milk
    • 1 tsp. vanilla


    Instructions


    1. Mix dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

    2. Cut in potatoes and margarine with a pastry blender.

    3. Combine eggs, milk and vanilla. Add to bowl and mix well.

    4. Roll out on floured board and cut into diamond shapes. Make a small slit in the center and pull one of the long ends through.

    5. Deep-fry in hot oil as for regular donuts.

    6. Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar as they come out of the deep-fryer.



    Final Comments


    These don't HAVE to be bowtie shapes but it is a great way to make them if you don't have a donut cutter (and they remind me of my childhood made this way).
