    The almond extract makes these the best.


    List of Ingredients


    • vegetable oil
    • 1 C. plus 2 Tbsp. flour
    • 3/4 C. milk
    • 1 tsp. baking powder
    • 1 tsp. almond extract
    • 1/8 tsp. salt
    • 1 egg
    • Powdered sugar


    Instructions


    1. In a 12-in. skillet over medium heat about 3/4 inch oil to 325 deg.
    2. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, mix flour with next 5 ingredients.
    3. Holding a narrow-spouted funnel (1/2 in. spout), close spout with finger; pour 1/4 C. batter into funnel.
    4. Over hot oil, carefully remove finger to let batter run out in a stream, while making a spiral about 6 in. in diameter.
    5. Fry 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown, turning once with tongs.
    6. Drain well on paper towels. Keep warm.
    7. Sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar. Serve warm
    8. Makes 7 funnel cakes.


    Final Comments


    You can also place batter in a teapot for easier pouring.
