    CARAMEL CAKE

    Cake:
    1 Cup butter
    2 Cup sugar
    4 eggs
    3 Cup flour
    3 tea. baking powder
    1 tea. cinnamon
    1/2 tea. allspice
    1/2 tea. nutmeg
    1/2 tea. salt
    1 Cup milk
    1 tea. vanilla


    Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time and beat well after each.
    Mix all dry ingredients and add alternately with milk. Stir in vanilla.
    Bake in greased or sprayed 9x13 pan for 30 to 40 min. or until done. Let cool for 5 minutes and then poke holes in it and pour all but 1/2 c. of the following caramel sauce over.

    CARAMEL SAUCE
    1/2 Cup butter
    2 Cup brown sugar
    1/2 Cup milk


    Bring to a boil and boil for one min.
    Reserve 1/2 C. for frosting.

    FROSTING
    1/2 Cup reserved caramel sauce
    3 Cup powdered sugar
    1 tea. vanilla
    2 - 4 Tbl. milk (as much as needed for spreading consistency)


    Cool cake before frosting.
