    Johnny Appleseed Cake

    From the kitchen of Peggy Pineda
    2 cups flour
    1 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon cloves
    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
    1 cup raisins
    1 cup chopped walnuts
    1/2 cup melted butter
    1 1/2 cup thick applesauce
    2 teaspoons soda


    Combine together flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Then add raisins, chopped walnuts and melted butter. In a separate bowl combine applesauce and soda. Then add to dry ingredients and beat until well blended. Pour into well greased, lightly floured 9x9x2 inch pan. Bake at 350 F degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
