    Turtle Cake

    1 pkg German chocolate cake mix
    1 C nuts, chopped
    1/2 C evaporated milk
    16 oz caramels (48 pieces)
    3 T butter or margarine
    1 C chocolate chips


    1 Melt caramels and add evaporated milk and margarine. Mix cake as directed on package. Pour half the batter in a 9x13" greased pan. Bake at 350 F for 18 minutes. Remove from oven and pour caramel mixture over the cake; add nuts and chocolate chips. Top with remaining batter and bake 20 minutes. Serve with whipped cream, if desired.
