    1/2-pound bacon, diced

    2-pounds lean beef (3/4 inch cubes)

    1-cup onion, chopped

    1-clove garlic, minced

    2-cans (15 ounces) tomato sauce

    1-tbsp cider vinegar

    1-tbsp brown sugar

    3-tbs chili powder

    1-cup stuffed olives

    Fry bacon in large pot until crisp and brown. Drain bacon on paper towels; pour off all but about three tablespoons of bacon drippings; set aside. Brown meat (about 1/3 at a time) in bacon drippings; set aside. Fry onion and garlic in the same pan. Add browned beef cubes, tomato sauce, vinegar, sugar and chili powder. Cover and simmer 2 1/2 hours (or until meat is tender), stirring occasionally. Add fried bacon and olives to pot 15 minutes before end of cooking. Serves 6 to 8.
