Beer Can Butt Chicken

- 1 whole chicken
- 1 (16 oz) can beer
- olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- salt and black pepper
- seasoning for chicken:
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- fresh basil
- pinch of cayenne
- salt and pepper
Instructions
- Start with a hot grill. Drink about 1/4 of the beer. Set it aside.
- Trim off some of the chicken fat, get rid of the giblets.
- Rub liberally with your favorite meat rub or my seasoning for chicken.
- Open the top of the 3/4 full can of beer. Drop in crushed garlic.
- Oil up the can and lower the chicken over top of it.
- The beer goes into the chicken's body cavity and allows the bird to stand upright.
- Cover grill and cook until the chicken wings are loose and the skin turns clear.
