    Barbecued Beef and Beans

    1-pound ground beef

    1-tsp chili powder

    1-tsp garlic salt

    (1) 16-ounce can barbecue beans

    (1) 10 1/2-ounce can condensed tomato soup

    (1) 4-ounce can chopped green chilies

    1-cup shredded American or Monterey Jack cheese (4 ounces)



    Mix ground beef, chili powder and garlic salt. Shape into 6 patties, each about 1/2 inch thick. Cook in 10-inch skillet over medium heat, turning frequently, until brown. Remove patties from skillet; drain drippings from skillet. Stir in beans, soup and chilies into skillet until well mixed; place patties on top. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer until patties are of desired doneness, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese; cover and let stand until cheese is melted, about 2 minutes. Serve over corn bread or toasted hamburger buns if desired. 6 servings.
