    Durango Beef and Cheddar Sandwiches

    1 pound beef, cooked and shredded
    1 (4-ounce) can ORTEGA Diced Green Chiles
    1/2 cup tomato ketchup
    1/4 cup frozen corn, thawed
    1/4 cup water
    1 teaspoon chili powder
    1 teaspoon granulated sugar
    1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
    6 buns, split and toasted
    6 slices cheddar cheese

    PREHEAT oven to broil.
    COMBINE beef, chiles, ketchup, corn, water, chili powder, sugar and cumin in medium saucepan. Bring to boil; reduce heat to low. Cook for 10 minutes. Cool slightly.
    SPOON warm meat mixture onto bottom halves of buns. Top with cheese slices and broil for 3 to 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted and lightly browned. Place bun tops on sandwiches and serve.
    Makes 6 servings.
