    1 c. butter or margarine
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    4 med very ripe bananas, mashed or 3 large
    1 tsp. pure vanilla extract or baker's compliment
    4 Tbs. buttermilk, yoghurt or sour milk
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    Pecan Topping,
    6 Tbs. butter or margaine
    10 Tbs. brown sugar, packed
    5 Tbs. milk
    1 c. or more, chopped pecans


    Preheat oven to 350°

    Cream butter and sugar. Mash bananas, beat
    eggs and add to the bananas with vanilla and
    buttermilk; mix well and add to creamed
    butter and sugar.

    Sift together flour, soda and salt. Add to
    banana mixture, beat well. Pour into 2 greased and
    floured loaf pans.( 8 or 9 inch ) whatever fills more than 1/2 full
    Bake 45 to 50 minutes or tested done in center with toothpick
    Cool to warm.

    Meanwhile::
    Prepare Topping: Melt butter in saucepan.
    Add sugar and milk. Cook until very syrupy
    . Don't over cook or it will harden to a carmel!
    Remove from heat and add chopped pecans.
    Pour over warm bread spreading to all the corners. May
    place under broiler until bubbly and brown. Watch closely.
    to prevent burning
