    5 cups flour
    1 Tablespoon sugar
    2 teaspoons salt
    1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    2 packages yeast (or 5 teaspoons)
    2 cups milk
    1/2 cup water
    Cornmeal

    Recipe



    Set aside 1 cup of flour. Combine remaining flour, salt, and baking soda. Heat liquids until warm (120 to 130 degrees.) Add yeast and sugar to liquids and stir to dissolve. Let yeast and sugar sit for 5 to 15 minutes. Add to dry ingredients and beat well. You must have a Kitchen Aid or similar-strength mixer, and be sure to use the whisk attachment. Stir in reserved flour to make a stiff batter. Spoon batter into 2 loaf pans that have been greased and sprinkled with cornmeal. Sprinkle top with cornmeal. Let rise 45 minutes or covered in the refrigerator overnight. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove from pans immediately and cool.
