    1-1/2 cups boiling water
    1 cup quick-cooking oats
    1/4 cup butter, at room temperature
    1 cup brown sugar
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1-1/3 cups flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon cinnamon

    Topping

    1/3 cup melted butter
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup milk, skim, at room temperature
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    1 cup coconut
    1/2 cup chopped walnuts

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13-inch by 9-inch pan.

    Pour water over oats; let stand 20 minutes.

    Sift together dry ingredients in a small bowl.

    Cream butter and sugars; stir in oats. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.

    Stir in dry ingredients.

    Scoop into pan; bake 30 minutes, until a test inserted in the center comes out clean.

    Topping:
    Combine ingredients; spread evenly over cake. Put cake under oven broiler until topping browns (watch carefully!)
