Beer-Beef-Potato Casserole

1-1/2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 large onion, sliced thin
4 large baking potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. thyme
1 can (12 oz.) beer
Recipe
Make seasoning mixture by mixing salt, pepper and thyme. Shape beef in six patties and brown in a large skillet; remove and set aside. Cook onion in drippings until tender, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Layer half the potatoes in a 2 quart casserole, season with one third of the seasoning mixture. Add beef patties, season with some of the seasoning, then add onion. Top with remaining potatoes and seasoning. Pour beer over all, cover and bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Uncover and bake another 15 minutes or until top is browned and potatoes are tender. Serves 4 to 6.
