    DOUGH

    1 cup softened oleo
    2 cups flour
    1/2 cup cold water

    FILLING

    1 cup sugar
    1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
    1/2 lb. almond paste
    1/2 t. vanilla

    Recipe



    Mix oleo & flour like pie crust. Add cold water & mix well. Chill overnight.
    Divide into 8 equal parts. Roll dough into 14x4 inch strips. Use 1/8 of filling mixture, roll into "snake" & place in middle of strip. Fold ends of dough over filling. Put water along long sides. Overlap long sides & seal.
    Lay seam side down on greased jellyroll pan or cookie sheet. Brush top with beaten egg white & sprinkle with sugar. Prick with fork every 2 inches.
    Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes. WATCH carefully so they do not burn.
