    Barbecue Ribs

    Source of Recipe

    Internet

    List of Ingredients

    2 1/2 to 3 pounds spareribs
1 bottle (16-oz) of smoky barbecue sauce (or 2 cups homemade sauce)
    1 onion, sliced
    salt and pepper to taste

    Recipe

Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper. Place ribs in broiler pan under broiler for 15 minutes to brown and remove excess fat. Pour sliced onion in stoneware. Slice ribs into serving pieces and put in slow cooker. Pour over them the barbecue sauce. Cover and cook on Low 8 to 10 hours. (High: 4 to 5 hours or less)

NOTE from Gladys: This recipe is the kind of modern easy recipe using the crockpot. I sometimes omit the barbecue sauce & I use one of my favorite rubs over the ribs. Then, I add 1/4 cup white wine or chicken broth. I usually cook the ribs in high for two hours & then, I lower the heat to LOW. The results is exceptional.
