1 cup butter
1 cup water
2 cups plus two tbsp. flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
Bring butter and water to a boil. Beat buttermilk and eggs and vanilla together. Add the dry ingredients to mixture and add to the water and butter mixture. Pour into a greased 15 1/2” X 10 1/2” jellyroll pan. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Frost as soon as cake comes out of oven.
Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
1 lb. confectioner’s sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
about 2 tbsp. evaporated milk
chopped walnuts or pecans
Add enough milk to make a mixture of spreading consistency. Beat well. Stir in nuts to taste.
