2 cans sour cherries
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
2-1/2 cups cake flour, sifted
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
6 Tbsp. melted butter
Sauce:
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
4 Tbsp. cornstarch
reserved cherry juice
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
4 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Recipe
Drain cherries, reserve juice for sauce. Beat eggs. Add sugar.
Stir in sifted flour, salt and soda. Add butter and cherries.
Mix,pour into well-greased tube pan.
Bake 40 minutes at 400 degrees.
Sauce
Mix sugar, salt and cornstarch. Add fruit juice and water, bring to boil. Cook until clear, remove from heat. Add butter and van ex.
Serve cake warm or cool with sauce poured over each piece
