Special Lemon Nut Coffeecake

List of Ingredients
1/2 c Butter or margarine
1 c Sugar
3 lg Eggs separated
2 c Sour cream
1 Tbs Fresh grated lemon rind
2 c Sifted cake flour
1 ts Baking powder
1 ts Baking soda
1/4 ts Salt
2 Tbs Grated lemon rind
1 c Chopped walnuts or almonds
1 c Chocolate chips
Glaze:
1/2 c Sugar
2 Tbs Fresh lemon juice
2 Tbs Orange liquer or o.j.
Cream butter or margarine with sugar until light and
fluffy. Beat in yolks one at a time. Stir in lemon
rind. Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with
the sour cream beginning and ending with dry
ingredients.Beat whites stiff and fold into
batter.Combine chips and nuts and fold into batter.
Pour into greased and floured bundt or tube pan and
bake 350 about 50 minutes or tested done.Cool in pan
10 minutes and remove to rack to cool. Baste with
lemon sauce while cake is warm:
For lemon glaze/sauce:
Bring glaze ingredients to a boil for a few minutes.
Cool cake completely before serving. Best flavor the
next day. Cake freezes well and is tender and moist
with wonderful flavor.
