    1 cup small elbow macaroni or shell pasta
    1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
    1/2 cup sliced onions
    1 (14 1/2-ounce) can stewed, chopped tomatoes, or
    1 large tomato, chopped
    1 (8-ounce) can tomato paste
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
    1 tablespoon chopped fresh or
    1 teaspoon dried parsley
    1 (4-ounce) can sliced mushrooms
    1 large green pepper, sliced
    1/2 cup sliced celery
    1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

    Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain.

    In large, heavy skillet, brown ground beef. Drain. Add onions, stewed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, pepper, oregano and parsley. Mix. Stir in macaroni. Cover and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, or until part of liquid is absorbed. Stir in mushrooms, green pepper and celery. Cook for 10 minutes, or until green pepper and celery are tender-crisp. Serve hot with cheese sprinkled on top.

    Variations: Note: You may freeze this dish. Reheat in the oven or microwave.

    Serving quantity: Serves 4.
