    List of Ingredients

    4 eggs, well beaten
    1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup melted butter or shortening
    2 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 tsp. anise flavoring
    1 tsp. black walnut flavoring
    1/2 tsp. almond extract
    1 cup chopped nuts
    5 cups all-purpose flour
    4 1/2 tsp. baking powder

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease 3 large cookie sheets.

With a heavy spoon beat eggs with the sugar. Blend well. Stir in the melted butter or shortening. Add the vanilla, anise, black walnut and almond flavorings. Blend in the chopped nuts.

Mix flour with baking powder and gradually stir into creamed mixture. On floured board, divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll each into a 14 inch rope. Place 3 ropes 2-inches or more apart on each large cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees until bottom of each rope is pale gold, 15 to 18 minutes. Cool on pan 2 to 3 minutes.

Cut into diagonal slices 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide. Tip each slice on side. These will be close together.

Bake in 375 degree oven 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly toasted.

Makes many cookies with a unique flavor
