    2 eggs
    1/2 cup shortening
    1 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup strong black coffee
    1 teaspoon brandy flavoring
    1 1/2 cups flour
    1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    2 cups finely crushed toffee candy, divided

    In mixing bowl, combine eggs, shortening, brown sugar, coffee and brandy flavoring. Mix until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in 1 cup toffee candy. With mixer running on low speed, add dry ingredients to creamed mixture in thirds.

    Pat dough into a round. Cover with plastic wrap. Chill for 2 hours.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Lightly grease cookie sheet.

    Let dough stand at room temperature for a few minutes. Pull off enough dough to be rolled to size of a walnut. Roll each ball in remaining toffee candy. Arrange cookies 2 inches apart on prepared sheet. Bake for 12 minutes. Let stand on sheet for 3 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Frost, ice or glaze cookies, if desired.

    Serving quantity: Makes 3 1/2 to 4 dozen.
