    ½ cup butter
    ½ cup shortening
    ¾ cup granulated sugar
    ¾ cup packed brown sugar
    ½ tsp. baking soda
    2 oz. unsweetened chocolate,
    melted and cooled
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    2¼ cups all-purpose flour
    1 cup large semisweet
    chocolate pieces
    1 cup white chocolate chunks
    1 cup chopped walnuts

    Beat butter and shortening in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, and baking soda; beat until combined. Beat in cooled chocolate, eggs, and vanilla. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in remaining flour. Stir in chocolate pieces, white chocolate chunks, and nuts.

    Drop dough from rounded teaspoons.

    2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375° oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until tops look dry. Cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute. Transfer to wire racks to cool. Makes about 24 cookies.
