Chocolate Caramel Bars

1 pkg. (20 ounces) refrigerated sugar cookie dough or chocolate chip cookie dough
1 bag (9 ounces) chewy caramels in milk chocolate, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts, optional
Recipe
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Cut cookie dough into 20 slices. Place slices in 13" x 9" baking pan. Press cookie dough edges together, forming an even bottom crust. Wet hands if dough becomes sticky. Sprinkle dough with chopped caramels and nuts if desired. Bake 18 to 20 minutes until cookie dough has risen and is pulling away from sides of pan. Place on wire rack to cool completely before cutting in to bars.
