    1 pkg. yellow cake mix w/ pudding added
    1 C. butter or margarine, softened
    1 egg
    2 C. quick-cooking oats (NOT instant oatmeal)
    1-1/2 C. semisweet chocolate chips
    1 C. chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
    1 jar (12.25 oz.) caramel topping (1 cup)
    3 T. flour

    Recipe



    Line bottom & sides of a 13x9x2" pan with foil. Spray with cooking spray.

    Beat cake mix, butter, and egg in a large bowl with electric mixer on low speed about 1 minute, or just until crumbly. Stir in oats, using hands if necessary. Reserve 1-1/2 C. of oat mixture; press remaining into bottom of prepared pan. Bake at 350° 14-18 minutes or until light golden brown.

    Sprinkle chocolate chips & nuts (optional, remember) over hot crust. Mix caramel topping & flour in a small bowl; drizzle evenly over chips & nuts. Sprinkle reserved oat mixture over top.

    Return to oven, bake an additional 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into about 24 bars.
