Fruit Loop Cookies with Orange Icing

Makes 36

2 cups Fruit Loops
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional
Orange Icing
2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons orange juice
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened


Recipe



Crush cereal into fine crumbs. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Beat shortening, butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and orange juice; beat well. Add dry ingredients and cereal crumbs. Mix thoroughly. Drop by level tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 min. Frost with Orange Icing.

Orange Icing:
Mix sugar, butter and enough juice for smooth icing or spreading consistency. Frost cookies--may decorate with fruit loops.
