    Molasses Peanut Butter Cookies

    2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    3/4 butter -- room temperature
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    2/3 cup light molasses
    1/2 cup chunky peanut butter
    1 large egg
    1 cup coarsely chopped unsalted roasted peanuts
    for garnish

    Mix flour, baking powder and baking soda.

    In a large bowl beat butter and sugar with electric mixer until fluffy. Beat in molasses, peanut butter and egg.

    With mixer on low speed, gradually beat in flour mixture just until blended.

    Wrap dough and chill 1 hour or until firm enough to shape.

    Heat oven to 350°. Form tablespoon of dough into 1-inch ball. Dip half of each ball into the chopped nuts. Place nut side up 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

    Bake 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned. Cool on cookie sheet 1 minute before removing to rack to cool completely. Store tightly covered.
