    1 cup shortening
    3 eggs beaten
    1 Tbsp grated orange rind
    3 cups sifted flour
    1 tsp salt
    1 cup chopped pecans
    1-3/4 cups sugar
    1 Tbsp orange juice
    1 cup buttermilk
    1-1/2 tsp soda
    1-8ounce chopped dates

    Recipe



    Cream shortening and sugar
    Add beaten eggs,orange juice and rind
    Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk
    Fold in dates and pecans
    Pour into a greased and floured stem or bunt pan
    Bake in a preheated 350 oven for 1 hour. As soon as pudding comes from oven pour over it: 1 cup orange juice, grated rind and 1 cup sugar
    Combine and stir until sugar is dissolved
    After adding sauce let cool completely before removing from the pan
    Store in a tightly covered container
