    Ripe, firm peaches, pitted and halved
    Whole cloves
    Sugar
    Brandy
    Cinnamon sticks

    Stud each peach half with 3 cloves. Fill sterilized 1 quart canning jars with the peaches, without crowning. Mix equal amounts of sugar and brandy in a covered jar. Shake to mix and quickly pour over the peaches and cover. Gently push a cinnamon stick into each jar, and seal. Every few days, gently turn the jars upside down until the sugar has dissolved, then turn the jars upright and store.
    Great gift idea: Cover the lids of the canning jars with round crocheted or paper doilies and tie them on with green velvet ribbons.
