    1/4 c butter
    3/4 c brown sugar
    1/4 tsp salt
    1 3/4 c milk, scalded
    3 beaten egg yolks
    1 tsp vanilla
    3 stiff beaten egg whites
    1/3 c chopped walnuts

    Recipe



    Cream butter, brown sugar, and salt, until mixture is light and fluffy.

    Blend a small amount of hot milk into beaten yolks; gradually stir in remaining milk and vanilla. Add to creamed mixture, blending thoroughly. Fold in beaten egg whites

    Set eight 5 oz. custard cups in a shallow pan. Pour custard mixture into the cups, top with walnuts. Place pan in oven and pour hot water into pan around custard cups until about 1" deep. Bake 325° till knife inserted comes out clean, about 45 minutes
