    List of Ingredients




    3 squares (1-oz each)unsweetened chocolate
    1 stick butter or margarine
    2 cups sugar
    3 eggs, well beaten
    1 Tbsp vanilla
    1/2 cup self-rising flour*
    1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

    Recipe



    Melt chocolate and butter together over hot water or in microwave until smooth.
    Stir in sugar, then stir and blend in beaten eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
    Stir in flour, then fold in chopped nuts (if using).
    Line a 8x8x2 square pan (or 11x7 pan) with foil and spray with Pam.
    Bake at 325º for 45 minutes EXACTLY.
    Cool in pan on rack.
    Cover, and refrigerate in pan overnight before cutting into squares. (I have never added the chopped nuts; also, I don't frost the brownies, but suppose they could be frosted if desired).


    Note: *TO make self-rising flour:
    For EACH cup of SR flour, stir together 2 or 3 times; 1 cup flour, 2 tsp baking powder, and 1/4 tsp salt.
