    3 cups water
    1 cup sugar
    1 1/2 cups Merlot
    Garnish: fresh mint sprigs

    Recipe



    Combine water and sugar in a saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Cool. Add wine, and pour into an 8-inch square pan. Cover and freeze until firm, stirring occasionally. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Scrape and shave the ice. Garnish with mint.
