    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 T. baking powder
    3/4 t. salt
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/3 c. shortening (butter)
    1/2 c. oats (quick or old-fashioned)
    1/4 c. currants
    2/3 c. milk

    Recipe



    Sift together first 4 ingredients. Cut in shortening until it resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in oats and currants. Add milk; stir only until moistened. Knead gently a few seconds. Roll out 1/4" think. Cut with diamond shaped cutter. Brush lightly with melted butter; sprinkle with sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 425 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes. Serve hot. 16 scones.
