    Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie

    Recipe Introduction

    This is a special pie and really good to take to dinners. You will be a hit if you take this pie along. Just remember to take a copy of the recipe for all the requests.

    List of Ingredients

    Topping:
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
    1 stick margarine cut into small pieces
    1/2 cup walnuts

    Filling:
    1/2 cup white sugar
    1/3 cup all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    1/3 cup sour cream
    6 or 6 Granny Smith apples cut into slices
    Prepared single pie curst

    Place pie crust into pan and place on a cookie sheet to catch drips. coarsely chop walnuts. Mix flour and brown sugar in a bowl. Cut in margarine with a pastry blender until crumbly. Stir in walnuts. refrigerate until ready to use.
    Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a big bowl. Add sour cream and lemon juice; stir to mix. Peel and quarter apples and slice. Add to bowl and toss until evenly coated. Arrange pie crust in pan and add the filling. Flute the pie crust underneath. Pat topping evenly over apples to form a top crust. Place on cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 60 minutes or until apples are tender. Watch topping as it may brown quickly and you may need to cover it. Remove and cool. Serve warm or at room temperature with a scoop of ice cream.
