Dumplings #1, rising breadlike*
1 1/2 level cups flour
2 level teaspoons baking powder, or
(1 tsp baking powder + 1 tsp. baking soda)
3/4 teastpoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar, optional
1/2 to 3/4 cup whole milk
Stir dry ingredients together.
Add 1/2 cup milk and stir. Batter should be a
sticky, gooey mass.
Add more milk to get proper consistency.
Using a serving Tablespoon and drop, very, very
gently into soup/stew/broth.
Cover and bring to a boil for 10 minutes.
Uncover and cook another 10 minutes.
Be sure to check to make sure soup/stew is not
sticking on the bottom, as this will absorb water
from the soup/stew.
When done, when cut open, they will be breadlike.
