Old Fashion Sponge Candy

1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cider vinegar
1 c. dark corn syrup
1 tsp. baking soda

Butter an 8x8x2 inch baking pan.
Stir sugar, vinegar and syrup together in a heavy pan.
Cook to boiling, stirring constantly.
Continue to cook, without stirring until the mixture reaches
300 degrees on candy thermometer (thread stage).
Remove from heat and stir in the baking soda.
The mixture will foam up.
Pour quickly into the pan, without spreading.
When cool, break in pieces.
